America's Natural Legacy Endangered Wildlife Medals Collection (Longines Symphonette, 1979)
Complete set of 36 medals depicting different forms of wildlife considered to be endangered in the wild. Issued in both a gold-plated and a sterling silver version, both of equal value. The medals were designed by Joseph Di Lorenzo and Marcel Jovine. They were produced by The Wittnauer Precious Metals Guild and marketed by the Longines Symphonette in the early seventies. Technical assistance was provided by the Sierra Club. These sterling silver medals were minted in high-relief and the gold-plated edition included a layer of electroplating in 24K Gold. The medals were housed in custom frames with information sheets on each of the animals featured. Actual size of 40mm. The edge of each medal is serial numbered with Longines Symphonette 24K Gold E.P. on Sterling ir STERLING SILVER embedded in the edge in tiny print.
