1976 Franklin Mint Bicentenial Powderhorn made of the finest Baccarat Crystal, inlaid with solid sterling silver.
It comes in a green display box lined w/ green velour and a wooden mounting cradle. The horn is 11" long and 6" tall when mounted in the cradle. The display box measures 13" across x 9" deep x 3 1/2" tall.
During Revolutionary time carved powderhorns were a highly regarded form of art. To help pass the time in the lull between battles and during the long winter encampments, soldiers inscribed their powderhorns with intricate designs. With a sharp knife, artistic skill and a creative imagination, a soldier could transpose a utilitarian object into a thing of beauty.
This commemorative features an original design created by the distinguished artist Isa Barnett, who has captured the heroic spirit of the patriots perservering during the bitter winter encampments to serve the cause of freedom.
This Franklin Mint Bicentennial Powderhorn is a reminder of the suffering endured by our forefathers in their struggles to achieve independence.
The design on the horn was created by the artist Isa Barnett. It is hand blown of Baccarat crystal and it is capped and banded in solid sterling silver with a sterling silver chain.
The beautiful horn is sparkling "Baccarat" crystal, and has a sterling silver lid on one end and a collar and chain on the other.
